The wines of Perlage are the result of the vision of the Nardi family and its passion for the organic viticulture. They are the fruit of experimentation, research, passion but above all of a territory and its history. Perlage is part of a diversified and rich landscape context, recognised worldwide for its beauty: the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, a Unesco World Heritage Site. The choice to produce sustainable wines arises also from a deep desire to preserve the characteristics of this territory and its biodiversity. With its wines, Perlage wishes to transmit the scents, the colours and the atmospheres of the wonderful native lands.
This watchmaking vlog episode 21 is about experimenting and learning how to make the perlage finish on a watch, this technique is also called spotting. I use EVEFLEX pin polishers for this perlage experiment, and try to match the haute horology manufactures in producing a beautiful finish. I love handmade things, but what I really love is when someone cannot believe it is handmade. That’s like one of my ultimate goals on this journey. And to get to that place, is just a constant improving process, trying to make this part better than the last part you made. It did take a while to get a perlage finish I was happy with, and learnt the techniques required to get there. So I will keep improving and have the best perlage of any watch manufacture or watchmaker. Thanks for watching. Dean DK

Perlschliff Beim Perlschliff handelt es sich um ein Schliffmuster oder Schliffbild zur Verzierung von Flächen. Andere Bezeichnungen sind im Französischen perlage oder perlée und im Deutschen Wölkchenschliff, Rebhuhnauge oder Pfauenaugenmuster. Aufbringen eines konzentrischen Perlschliffs auf einer Uhrwerksplatine Heutzutage findet der Perlschliff überwiegend bei der Herstellung von Armbanduhren-Bauteilen Verwendung. Das kreisrunde Schliffbild wird dabei frei von Hand oder genau gesteuert mittels rotierender Schleifkörper aufgebracht. Als Perle wird dabei ein einzelner geschliffener Punkt bezeichnet. Anwendung im Fahrzeugbau Wesentlich größere Schliffpunkte als im Uhrenbau wurden im historischen Fahrzeugbau bei Eisenbahnwaggons oder Auto-Armaturenbrettern verwendet. Beispielsweise wurden beim n-Wagen der Bundesbahn der Bereich unter den Fenstern großflächig perliert. Allerdings ist der Edelstahl bei den heute noch eingesetzten Wagen mittlerweile unter Lack verborgen. Als Hommage an diese Zeit wurde beim Bugatti Veyron 16.4 das Armaturenbrett mit Perlschliff verziert. LA MÉTHODE INDUSTRIELLE Les machines modernes permettant de réaliser un perlage sont encore peu répandues car très onéreuses. Elles sont à commande numérique et conviennent pour Les grandes séries. L'abrasif choisi doit être fonction de la profondeur voulue et renouvelé régulièrement pour la conserver. LES MÉTHODES ARTISANALES À LA MACHINE A PERLER (PERLEUSE) Jadis, le perlage était réalisé au moyen d'une tige en ivoire tournée manuellement sur la surface de la pièce enduite d'une pâte humide de poudre à poncer. De nos jours, des tampons abrasifs sont adaptés sur une perleuse. La tige tournante est abaissée pour marquer la surface de la pièce, à intervalles réguliers, de petits cercles, formant ainsi le dessin. L'aspect du décor peut varier suivant l'espacement des perles.
