This can feel like a frustrating and continual processing or decoding of the world around them. Balancing these symptoms often leads to meltdowns where it feels like one is incapable of processing more sensory input or shutdowns where one needs to retreat to a silent place for an extended period of time before rejoining in normal activities. Many times these symptoms are imperceptible to others who are not autistic due to camouflaging or masking. Camouflaging/masking is the process through which autistic people consciously or subconsciously behave in order to appear more socially appropriate. This can affect body language, tone of voice, eye contact, word choice, and more. Presented by Sally Ozonoff, Ph.D. The UC Davis MIND Institute is working to amplify the voices of the disability community and promote neurodiversity. This includes responding to concerns regarding the language and framing used to describe autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. We believe there is a benefit to maintaining access to historical presentations like those on our YouTube page, but recognize that the vocabulary used doesn’t always match the current preferred language. We appreciate the harmful impact of this outdated language, the discriminatory framework which fostered it, and the distress it may cause to some individuals. In an attempt to lessen this, we have changed the titles of presentations where appropriate.

O DSM-5-TR foi lançado em 2013, com o objetivo de corrigir pequenos erros técnicos, atualizar as referências e melhorar a clareza dos critérios do DSM-5. Algumas das mudanças no DSM-5-TR incluem: 🔸 Correção de erros: O DSM-5-TR corrigiu erros técnicos e erros de formatação encontrados no DSM-5. 🔸 Atualização de referências: O DSM-5-TR inclui referências atualizadas e revisões de pesquisas recentes para refletir a compreensão atual dos transtornos mentais. 🔸 Maior clareza: O DSM-5-TR inclui maior clareza dos critérios de diagnóstico e sintomas para ajudar na compreensão e aplicação do manual. 🔸Mudanças nas categorias de transtornos: algumas mudanças foram feitas nas categorias de transtornos no DSM-5-TR, como a renomeação de alguns transtornos, a eliminação de alguns subtipos e a adição de novos transtornos.
